History: Several years ago, Jeanie Betancourt started out as a part-time employee at the store and a year later, when the original owner retired, she and her husband purchased two of the three stores — in Clairemont Mesa and San Marcos. One year later, they bought the Rancho Mirage store and have since opened a fourth store in Murrieta.
Philosophy: Jeanie says, “The sign on our stores sums up our philosophy best: ‘It is our purpose to provide you, our valued customers, with the best products, knowledge and service for the best possible price.’”
By-the-clock advice: A tip from Fan Diego for the warm months: Fans in summer should be moving counterclockwise. In other words, for the cooling function, the higher edge of the blade should be the leading edge as the fan spins. For heat-reclamation purposes, the fan should run clockwise with the low edge of the blade being the leading edge.
What’s new: Fans are one of the original energy-efficient appliances but when they first became popular, there were not a lot of design choices. Today’s fans follow furniture trends and lighting styles, and blend with any décor. Because the new motors use 35 to 75 percent less energy than the older models, now, more than ever before, fans are one of the ways to “go green” in your home and/or office.
Quote: “It is not the running of business that is satisfying; it is the filling in the puzzle of what is the perfect fan for our customers’ needs.” — Jeanie Betancourt
