Pale blue-green walls glazed with an almost imperceptible stripe provide a serene background to a sophisticated bedroom by designer Jill Gordon. Formerly of Manhattan, Gordon is new to Showcase and brings a tailored and au courant style to the house.
The softly curved headboards of the twin beds were inspired by Diane Keaton’s bed in the movie Something’s Gotta Give. The beds are dressed with a tailored bed skirt and fabrics of cashmere, linen and silk.
Antique furniture such as an Art Deco three-drawer table and a 19th-century Chinese wallpaper panel in a mirrored frame give this room a personal style. Other antiques include an early 1900s French shaving table with white marble top used as a vanity.
Roman shades at the windows are simple in a sheer pale blue-and-white check wool. A French chair, with a detail of tiny faux seashell trim at the hem, is slipcovered in the same sheer wool. Carefully chosen objects like a crystal lamp and a silver bowl full of pale yellow-green sea urchin shells give just the right finish to the room.
